MVYLI youth who graduated from the Youth Summit and have developed and demonstrated their leadership skills with MVYLI programs are invited to serve as Visioneers for the 2011 Youth Leadership Summit.

These four youth receive a stipend for helping design the Youth Summit and recruit, nominate and orient other youth to attend the Youth Summit. The Institute’s Train-the-Trainer Youth Empowerment Model features youth leaders who graduated from previous Youth Summits and are trained to help other young people.

Once they’ve seen the positive effect of the program on their life, they are eager to recruit, engage and train other youth to become leaders of their island. They are especially invested in passing along Dr. King’s legacy of “Each one, teach one” – that creates a powerful multiplier effect for future generations. We engage young people in all aspects of the process that results in true youth empowerment.
